Tickmorend Farm Reviews

Sheila
Beautiful house in a wonderful quiet country setting but very close to Nailsworth which has everything you could possibly need. The house is perfect for a family as it is furnished very cleverly to all feel comfortable and not worry about white sofas etc. If anything, it exceeds the details provided. The hot tub and pool were a real hit with our grandchildren. They found salamanders in the pool, there were ducks on the lawn and a pheasant at the dining room window. The outside kitchen is fantastic try the wood fired pizza oven! Everything works in the house and anything I wasnt sure about, I messaged Matt. He was in touch throughout our stay to check that everything was okay. We all agreed we would like to visit again!!
Ideal location and property for a family Christmas for 10 people. The owner was very good in ensuring all was satisfactory in the property.
We have a wonderful holiday here, Matt was welcoming and relaxed. Its a lovely house and we hope to return soon!
I booked this house through Sykes with a deposit a year ago for my family of twelve two of whom are small and in cots. When it came to the final payment, Sykes told me we were too many and that I could rent the barn for another 875 or cancel and not have a holiday!!! So I paid up. I have since seen that a previous reviewer reported the same thing happening to them! Later on, Sykes told me, incorrectly, that there was a large payment outstanding and I spent six hours on the phone waiting to speak to a member of staff to sort this out. My nerves were in shreds! I will never book through Sykes again! Such a shame as Tickmorend Farm is a DREAM COME TRUE. We loved every part of it. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it. Every luxury and more was there and we had a magical holiday. Matt was charming and on hand for any tiny problems. We will be back but through a different source.
Very enjoyable stay for 8 adults and 2 children. Lots of space both inside and outside and a large kitchen area. Loved the natural pool, hot tub and large garden. Would book again for a family gathering.

The property owner was fantasic and so was Tickmorend Farm couldn't fault it however, I think that Sykes need to review their processes as we had a booking accepted for our party along with the total cost of the holiday, and almost a whole YEAR later, a couple of months before our stay, Sykes demanded more money for the barn due to our party numbers. Knowing that we couldn't find an alternative for the same dates at such late notice, we were forced to cough up the extra money, the only solution being offered by Sykes was to cancel the booking entirely. Apparently we're not the first to have fallen foul of the terrible practises by Sykes. I'll definitely go to Tickmorend Farm again, but I'll never use Sykes Cottages again thats for sure!

The house was lovely. The facilities were spot on for us. Matt and Prama thought of everything even down to stocking the pantry with items that one might not think of bringing. Very much appreciated. The house itself is spacious so doesn't feel crowded. The garden is lovely for children to run around. The separate area for Jacuzzi , Sauna and wild pool with gates meant we could make sure the younger members of our party were kept away from the pool area as it is very deep. Our family were there to spend quality time together, so we didn't got out and about in the area but we didnt need to. There was plenty to do around the property that kept everyone occupied. The BBQ area was a delight The Pizza oven was brilliant. Pizza night was a great hit. Our family ages ranged from 70 to 2 yrs old and everyone of us loved our time at Tickmorend.
This place is terrific. In a beautiful location, very secluded and quiet in the heart of the Cotswolds with lovely villages and scenic walks. The house itself is very luxurious and comfortable with everything you need for a great family vacation. Plenty of room, comfy beds and warm, cosy places to sit and play games or reconnect. The Sauna, pool and hot tub is a big plus. We had a great family reunion. Matt, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back.
The property delivered as much as the listing promised, more in fact. The kitchen is very well equipped so that catering for 10 was problemfree. The decoration and furnishings were delightful and 3 generations of our family, together with some family friends, all had a lovely long weekend. Matt was very helpful indeed even calling from a wedding he was at to help with a query!
The house is beautiful! when booking the holiday we wanted a peaceful and relaxing location for all the family to enjoy and this house delivered exactly that. The Orangere is amazing loved that the dinner table is located there different from the photos on the site could do to be up dated We lit the fire and played games together. The kitchen is great just needs a few bits adding ie Oven gloves, some of the kitchen trays need replacing . Japanese bath was a massive hit! During our stay we visited bath 45 min drive a mustvisit is Broughton on the water the little Venice of England and ended our day at Jeremy clacksons Diddly squat farm shop then headed home to cook pizzas on the fabulous outdoor kitchen. The weather wasn't the best but that didnt stop us from using the hot tub and sauna and the natural swimming pool very bracing in the cooler weather definitely worth paying the extra. Two others that loved the outdoor space were Freddie and Brue our spaniels they had great fun in the huge outdoor space .Thank you for a great week definitely highly recommend this property.
Excellent and amazing property. Perfect for our large family get together. The pool, hot tub and sauna were a great addition.
Fantastic property visited for our 50th wedding anniversary and was perfect. friends came for lunch and immediate family stayed for the whole week all enjoyed the pool and sauna combination. The real hit was the hot tub which I didn't use but everyone else really enjoyed it.The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. The setting is peaceful and very quiet . Indoors plenty of space if the weather is bad.very tasteful decor and everything you need is provided would love to return.

Our family of 12 people across three generations had a fantastic stay at Tickmorend Farm. The house is stunning, with plenty of space and really high quality facilities. The natural pool was a huge hit with the children, and the hot tub much appreciated by the adults! The location is pretty and quiet, and a great base to explore loads of great places in the Cotswolds. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone!
From the start right through to the end of our holiday this holiday home was a pure delight, the landscape that surrounds this property is breathtaking, with the most beautiful walks right on the doorstep. Our party of 11 had the most amazing stay in this very comfortable, quirky very spacious property, amazing gardens and facilities surrounded by a secure wall was excellent for our dogs. The outdoor space has to be witnesses to be fully appreciated, with the natural swimming pool, hot tub and sauna, entertained the whole party day and night. We would love to return for another holiday as lots more places to visit in the area, with super restaurants and artisan shops and local produce markets. A great big thank you to the property owner who was so accommodating with our needs.
What a wonderful property, we thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tickmorend Farm to celebrate both mine and my husbands significant birthdays with the family and 2 dogs. The house, the gardens, the swimming lake and the bbq area were even better then promised by the website photos, a privilege to stay in such a characterful property. We had a few issues with power and hot water, as an owner of an old house I understand the problems, however these were resolved promptly ....... but access to the secret fuse box may have made things easier If you are lucky enough to have stumbled discovered this property in your searches then look no further, you will love it.
Christopher
Amazing, beautiful location and the house is absolutely stunning. The gardens are huge and well kept the decor of each room is so stylish we loved every minute of it.
We booked three nights at this delightful property for all of our family 12 of us as a surprise for my husband's 80th birthday. The ages ranged from 3 all the way through to 80 and there was absolutely something for everyone. The property, decor and accommodation have been so tastefully and beautifully thought out and the pool, sauna and hot tub were thoroughly enjoyed by all. One of the grandchildren said he really didn't want to leave could we please stay forever. Very highly recommended.
Wonderful house perfect for our family gettogether and birthday celebration. Spacious, stylish and comfortable we will definitely return.
We all had a great time, lovely venue and great amenities.
Brendan
We had a lovely week at Tickmorend Farm. There was ample space both indoors and outdoors for us all to enjoy and the decor has a real wow factor with lots of extras you wouldn't expect. Luxurious and comfortable and just what you need for a relaxing Christmas with a lovely Christmas tree and decorations. A few minor issues We do feel the listing is a bit misleading and needs clarification it's not 6 bedrooms unless you also hire the barn although it turned out we had!. The kitchen lets the property down a little. The 'working triangle' is squashed up one end so we were dancing around each other a lot and a single oven is rather inadequate for a property sleeping 10. Fortunately we also had an oven in the barn, plus a washing machine there isn't one in the main house. Storage for our own food was very limited. We had some issues with the hot tub, which Matt largely sorted out for us kindly coming out to sort it on Christmas eve but it did reduce temperature every night and wasn't back to 40 until around midday. Matt seemed to think this was down to power cuts but it did happen every night so a bit puzzling. I repeat these were minor issues and we had a great stay, but for the price we paid we did expect perfection.
A wonderful property for a family break . Stayed 3 nights in early October. Weather was marvellous so made full use of fresh water pool sauna and outside pizza oven and bbq. The 2 Labradors enjoyed the freedom of the large grounds. Beautiful setting and house&barn were gorgeous. 11 adults had plenty of space and facilities were spot on . Good location for visiting area but we made use of the property albeit a parkrun in Stroud and shopping visit to Tetbury. Accessible for online shop delivery. Would certainly return age range 2362

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in this very interesting house and barn, the gardens and pool and outdoor cooking area were excellent, as were the figs and other garden produce. Well arranged for dogs. It worked very well for a lunchtime party with 36 guests, with a good choice of local external caterers. Downside Only contacts for emergent problems were both in USA at the time. The large kitchen was organised by someone on LSD. The crockery, glasses etc seemed somewhat assorted, and the large plates were so large that they prevented the dishwasher from working. The powered gate failed, luckily opened. And could someone start a movement to ban all those cushions on beds? All that said, these were minor irritants and did little to spoil an excellent stay. I would heartily recommend Tickmorend Farm.
A simply stunning converted farmhouse with every luxury we could have asked for. The property was absolutely perfect for our multigenerational holiday everyone could have their own space but there were lovely big rooms for the whole family to get together for meals and socialising. The kids loved the wild pool and the grown ups loved the hot tub and sauna, so everyone was happy. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Tickmorend Farm to anyone.
Beautiful, ecological property and friendly owner. Have already recommended. Thank you x
A beautiful property that was actually better in real life than in the photos. The natural swimming pool, hot tub and sauna were such a great combination. The pizza oven and barbecue also were superb.
Its a beautiful property with lovely garden. Pictures does not do justice. Owners are very helpful and friendly.
An excellent property for a 3 generation, 9 family members break. Sufficient space and equipment for us to be together to cook and eat meals, yet still plenty of areas to escape to for private quiet times. The flower gardens were stunning and the large lawn was ideal for the yougsters to enjoy each others company and play. Beyond the enclosed garden was a wild garden with paths, the vegetable area as well as the wild pool, hot tub and sauna. The break was enjoyed by everyone from the youngest through to the eldest, making it an ideal place for quality 'family time'. Matt was very helpful with answering questions we had pre and during the stay.
This property is fantastic, the photos and description dont really do it justice. We had a preChristmas family get together for nine and had everything we needed and more. It is stylish and cosy and the welcome package was much appreciated. The log burners and Christmas decorations really added to the festive feel. We hope to return in warmer weather to see the gardens at their best and try out the pool.
All good except the kitchen and bbq area being under equipped with cooking utensils. do not publish this as a i have already told the owner
Florence
We had the best time at Tickmorend! The house and garden were completely stunning, and Matt was incredibly helpful in the lead up to and during our stay. He allowed us to hold a large celebration and even lent us his trestle tables to help. We cannot recommend Tickmorend enough!!
The whole experience was fabulous. The house is excellent for entertaining. Outdoor facilities for cooking excellent. Gardens are are a dellght and the swimming pool was enjoyed by all. Matt, the owner, greeted us on arrival and was most helpful with places of interest in the locality, A definite consideration for 2023.
Patricia
Beautifully renovated old farmhouse with newer kitchen and shower room extension in pretty countryside on the western edge of the Cotswolds. Spacious house with plenty of modern bathrooms, newly decorated and nothing showing signs of wear. Perfect for 8 of us in three generations staying long we for a wedding nearby. Space for cot in main bedroom, small double next door felt good for 4year old. Large king room for granny and other grandparents spread out across the whole of the attic with plenty of space and cosy rooms. Stairs have high treads for anyone with mobility issues but the central oak staircase and landing is a stunning feature in the house. Two ground floor loos and four different areas downstairs with wood burners plus kitchen made it very easy to holiday and prep for wedding. Tge gardens are a joy, especially for a dog wander, also footpath immediately opposite house. Super leisure area with wild swimming pool we used daily and very nicely finished saunashower & loo nearby. Hot tub looked great but we didnt use. We entertained some old friends for lunch and were allowed to cut some fresh asparagus from the extensive vegetable patch which was a real treat. I couldnt recommend this property highly enough, it was heaven to stay in and I would go back in a flash.
Sandra
We had a perfect Christmas at Tickmorend Farm a comfortable house log fires well decorated for Christmas, well equipped for a large family long country walks in the beautiful area a fantastic village with up market shops, restaurants, fab food shops. we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much we loved it Sandra Day and Family
Adrian
Wonderful property had a great weekend stay for my wifes birthday with all the family, would highly recommend.
Sharon
The house and grounds are absolutely gorgeous with so much to do onsite that we didn't explore the local area as much as we normally would. Outdoors we made good use of the bbq, pizza oven and firepit, enjoyed fruit and veg from the garden, swam in the natural pool and enjoyed watching the swifts, dragonflies and newts that visit it. The house itself was immaculate, wellequipped and very spacious for our family group of 10 people.
Fantastic house and wonderful friendly hosts. The facilities are 5, the kids loved the pool and the pristine garden, the host even showed them around the vegetable patch and taught them about the different eatable plants. We've made good use of the pizza oven and on rainy days the games room was invaluable. The location is also great, whether you like hiking or going to the beach. Highly recommend this place and looking forward to coming again.
Fabulous house. Any questions I had were immediately answered by my contact.
