Birch House Reviews

Andrew
The house and location worked really well for us. Comfortable and only a short walk into town. We had a great time and really enjoyed Stow and the surrounding area Had to buy oven gloves as despite a previous review saying no oven gloves they hadn't been replaced as we had assumed. There is a light bulb needs replacing in the lounge.
Jackie
It was the perfect accommodation when away with the family. The location was perfect as it was only a 5 minute walk up into the town perfect for tiring little legs for a well earned stop in one of the coffee shops. The house was clean and well maintained. I would definitely return.
Perfect location and plenty of room for 8 people
Elisha
The house is a very comfortable size for a large family which was perfect for us. The house had everything we needed. Admittedly it was a last minute booking but I was disappointed with the dog rules. We didnt find out until after booking that dogs were not allowed on sofa or upstairs. Then to be pulled up by neighbours to say we couldnt leave our dogs made it inconvenient when going out for dinner etc.
We had a lovely stay at Birch House. It was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Just a short walk into Stow where there are several pubs, cafes and gift shops. Parking was easy with one space on the driveway and plenty of free roadside parking. Would definitely recommend.
To start with positives we were really impressed with the call from Manor Cottages to say we could go in slightly earlier on arrival day and the welcome pack in the home was very well received. The house is well stocked but severely let down by bad cleanliness glasses, cutlery were dirty, old tea was left in tea pot, bad smell in main bedroom and poor maintenance shower door not shutting properly in second bedroom, curtain broken in main bedroom. We emailed Manor Cottages during our stay but did not hear back.
Property was super and we really enjoyed our stay. House was well located just a few minutes walk from the town centre via a nearby cutthrough. Easy parking outside. Although weather was cold outside when we arrived, the house was warm inside and during our stay. Property was good throughout with decent showers and hot water always available. House was clean, kitchen well equipped but could do with better cereal bowls and there was no salt and pepper!. Appliances all worked fine. Lounge had comfy sofas. Nice to see a few family games there too. Lounge also had a good but older style smart TV. This worked well, with Netflix and a few streaming apps. An HDMI cable was required to connect our laptop for games and other streaming services. Fortunately we had our own. Upstairs bedrooms were roomy and the beds comfy. There was a table tennis table in the garage. A bit cramped but we did manage a short game! Only a very small enclosed patio area outside. Worth noting especially if you have a dog or small children but not an issue to us as we didnt use it. Finally, it was nice to have a welcome pack on arrival! All in all a great place to stay. Stow is a lovely town with several small shops to browse, great pubs and restaurants and lots of walking nearby even in the middle of winter!
There is so much to like about this property the location for getting to the town is great, the rooms especially downstairs are lovely and we really appreciated the Christmas decorations. It is spoilt by what a previous reviewer called niggles insufficient hooks for coats downstairs, no hairdryer, a random selection of glasses etc little things that could easily be addressed. One bigger problem a single bed that collapsed was reported to Manor Cottages and has hopefully been dealt with.
We were 5 ladies having a 3 night breakaway. Very comfortable beds and lots of crockery etc, great location! There were a few things which niggled but not enough for us to not rebook again
Everything about our stay at Birch House was amazing and exceeded our expectation. The house was perfect for 8 adults and a baby. Plenty of space in the four bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The beds and sofa were comfortable. Space for 2 cars in front of the house and plenty on the side and around the house. Location was perfect for walking into town and driving to other places of interest in the Cotswold. Price for 3 nights was good given the size and location of the house. The customer service from Sykes Cottages was very reliable. They answered my query really quickly before my stay and urgently dealt with a pressure issue we had with the boiler during our stay. I would definitely recommend and stay at Birch House again on my next visit to the Cotswold.
No hair dryer
We couldnt figure out lighting the stove and had to buy a lighter from the store to ignite it. The dryer was not easy to access because of the clutter in the room. The fuse tripped, turning off all of the upstairs lights. That was fixed with a call to maintenance. One morning, the water was not heated. That said, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were equipped. The kitchen was stocked. The location was perfect. Parking locations were unclear so we guessed and parked north of the building with others. The snacks were appreciated. A hair dryer would be nice. The food recommendations were appreciated. We loved our stay in the Cotswolds.
This is a lovely comfortable property in an excellent location. Great to be able to walk into Stow and browse the interesting shops there. Nice walks from the property. Lovely restaurants nearby.
Nice house for a stay in a lovely village. Easy walk into village with great pubs and shops. Accommodates 8 people comfortably, best suited to 2 families of 4, with 2 rooms being twins. Clean tidy and as described.
Lovely accommodation, excellent location close to the high street where there are several pubs and shops to keep you busy.
Thomas
We stayed at Birch house for a few nights to kick start Christmas. Having stayed in Stow before, we knew the area well and we were pleased to find that Birch House was perfectly situated for 4 adults, 1 child and a dog. There was plenty of space for us all to relax and enjoy ourselves, with just a short walk to the centre to enjoy the many shops, pubs and restaurants. The weather held up for us mostly, although it was very windy on two of the nights, and there was a repeated loud bang on the roof above our bedroom. Not sure at all what this was but thought it worth mentioning so the owner can take a look. We cooked a lovely roast dinner on the Sunday, taking advantage on the good sized kitchen and dining room table. However, we couldn't seem to find any oven gloves, which made it difficult to get things out of the oven. Apart from this, it was a very enjoyable stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!
Well maintained property Close to amenities and attractions

The house was in a very good position in the town only a few minutes walk and you were right in the heart of Stow in the Wold. It was also very easy to get to round the local area . Easy parking for three cars . The house was very equipped for 8 people and it was great to be able to take our two dogs. The kitchen was large and it allowed us to have lovely family meals all together, The bedroom were large and it had three good size bathrooms. Also the lounge had three good size sofas I would recommend this house for large groups to visit the lovely local area
